A Slack message from YuHsiang Fu about winning a three-store project

Who they are

YuHsiang Fu runs FWS Work, an award-winning interior design studio in New York working across residential, hospitality and brand environments. The studio's own line for what it does is narrative-driven interior design.

He is based in Brooklyn, and he came to MYA as a designer whose work was ahead of his process. Projects were won, but every one of them ran a different way from first inquiry to signed contract.

The problem they were facing

There was one small restaurant inquiry on the table and no repeatable route from that first conversation to a signature. When every project is scoped and run from scratch, good work does not compound into a bigger engagement.

His own description of the state before was uncertainty about the process rather than about the design. The work started with structure, and grew from there into the offer, the website and the sales conversations.

What changed

Three meetings after the structure went in, that one small restaurant inquiry came back as a three-store project for a fast casual restaurant group in Arizona. One inquiry had become a multi-store engagement.

Across the three months that followed he signed four high-end project contracts worth $80,000 and up, and he now runs one route from first inquiry to signed contract instead of inventing a new one each time.

What we did
01

Built the magnetic offer

We worked out who he wanted to reach and what set his studio apart, then wrote the offer around it.

02

Mapped the process from inquiry to signed contract

Every stage between a first restaurant inquiry and a signature was written down as one route the studio could repeat.

03

Built the follow-up and proposal structure

Proposals and follow-up now run to a fixed structure instead of being rebuilt from scratch for every project.

04

Rewrote the copy and built a new website

A new site that states what the studio does and who it is for, with the copy and structure written to be found in search.

05

Wrote the sales script and reviewed the calls

A script for the first conversation, feedback on how he pitched, and reviews of his recorded calls.

Every time I feel confused or a bit worried about my process, I can look at the structure you've provided and feel more stable, organized, and confident. It's been a real game changer for me.
